Guardian Europe has published three Fiches de Déclaration Environnementale et Sanitaire (FDES) – also referred to as Environmental and Health Declaration Sheets – on the INIES Database. INIES is the national French reference database for environmental and health data on construction products and equipment.
The three FDES, publicly available, are covering our European manufacturing of Float Glass, Coated Glass and Laminated Glass.
An FDES is a standardized document presenting Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) results, to evaluate the environmental & health performance of products in the context of the eco-design of a building. FDES can be described as the environmental identity card of a product based on these results and are valid for 5 years (2022-2027). This document takes into account the life cycle of a product from extraction of raw materials to end-of-life, including transportation and manufacturing.
FDES provide objective, qualitative, quantitative and third-party verified information based on different criteria like Global Warming Potential (GWP in kg CO2 eq.), related to the Reference Service Life (RSL) and functional unit of a product used in a construction project.
With the new RE2020 (Réglementation Environmmentale) Regulatory Requirement in France, FDES are now mandatory to evaluate the environmental impacts of products used in the building.
